Metso Launches a New High-Capacity
Grinding Mill for the Mining Industry

Metso launched a new high-capacity Vertimill at MinExpo fair in Las Vegas. The new 3000 hp mill complements Metso's range of stirred milling products and opens up significant market segments especially in secondary grinding applications for the mining industry. The new Vertimill will be the first product of Metso's recently acquired Lachine plant in Canada.

The Vertimill range is typically used in concentrate regrind applications with fine feed and product size. The new Vertimill, with increased capacity, reduces the number of mills required in secondary grinding applications, thus making it an economical option for mines.

In comparison to ball mills, the Vertimill can perform the same grind with 30% to 50% less energy and significantly lower grinding media consumption. Furthermore, the machine has fewer moving parts than a ball mill, translating into lower maintenance and operating costs. These features bring substantial savings for the mining companies. The new Vertimill can be built in comparable lead times to smaller Vertimills and in considerably shorter lead times compared to traditional ball mills.

Metso's recently acquired Lachine manufacturing plant enables the production of the new high-capacity Vertimill in very competitive lead times, making Metso a strong player in the secondary stirred grinding market.
