Introducing the All-New 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

Chevrolet recently introduced the next-generation Silverado, 100 years after the brand delivered its first trucks to customers in January 1918. The new Silverado comes with the most functional bed of any full-size truck and is lighter than before.

The 2019 Silverado offers the most cargo volume in every bed length, with the short-box offering up to 20% more than a competitor’s short-box. Most of that volume was created by widening the maximum width of the bed floor nearly 18 cm. Chevrolet Accessories will offer storage bins that fit over the wheel wells, offering nearly 200 l of lockable cargo space for short-box models, while easily accommodating a sheet of plywood flat on the cargo floor. The bed floor is made of an even higher-grade steel with a yield strength increased from 340 to 500 MPa Also, the Silverado will be available with a class-exclusive power up/down tailgate.

The 2019 Silverado is larger than before, including a wheelbase that is up to 100 mm longer. Remarkably, it is also lighter, weighing 204 kg less than today’s truck when comparing crew cab V-8 models.

The 2019 Silverado will be available with 6 engine/transmission combinations, including an all-new 3.0 l Duramax I6 turbodiesel paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission as well as start/stop technology to improve fuel economy for optimum performance and efficiency.

The cab has been stretched, with crew-cab models now offering 76 mm of additional rear-seat legroom.

Production of the 2019 Silverado will begin shortly at the Fort Wayne, Indiana, assembly plant with customer deliveries beginning this fall.
