Crane-Independent Building Redevelopment
During the refurbishment of an apartment building in Dietikon, Switzerland, the constraints were clearly defined: work within the existing structure with limited space, and do not continue to use a crane once the slab has been concreted. Therefore, for the formwork operations on a sloping reinforced concrete slab and a lift shaft, the required solution needed to be adaptable, easy to work with and capable of operating without the need for a crane. With the DUO Universal Formwork system, the contractor, Wanner & Lott AG, opted for a system that is specifically suited to these requirements.
In this project, DUO was used for both the lift shaft and the sloping reinforced concrete slab. The versatility of the system was particularly evident during the construction of the sloping reinforced concrete slab. Thanks to the adaptable modular design, the formwork could be adjusted to the required geometry. DUO’s high level of adaptability simplified the performance of various formwork tasks on site. As well as being easy to use, DUO impressed with its efficiency on site. Deploying the system made it possible to reduce material requirements The project in Dietikon demonstrates the benefits of DUO in building redevelopment projects. The lightweight system components enabled work to be carried out without the need for a crane and made handling straightforward on the construction site. As the DUO system could be used for both the sloping reinforced concrete slab and the lift shaft, a single system was sufficient to carry out a variety of formwork tasks. This simplified the planning process and made it easier to carry out the work on site.
